Personal | My first pumpkin!

It's almost Halloween!
So get your creepy outfits and fake spiderwebs!!

Well... here in the Netherlands we unfortunately don't really celebrate halloween, which is a pity because I really, really like halloween decorations. It makes everything cosier somehow..
*lets out a little sob*

Anyways! This year I decided to carve my very own and very first pumpkin!
I've never done it before and had no idea of how to do it, nevertheless I'm kinda pleased with the result.

Tadadadaaaaa...!!

I'll definitely carve another pumpkin next year and try something which is more bold..
but for this year I love this little plain Jack!

Have you ever carved a pumpkin?

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

Personal | Guilty Pleasures

Chocolate ... White milk & dark !!! www.14u-fashion.com loves them ALL
Source
Hey guys!

Happy sunday!

For today I wanted to talk about something that anyone can relate to (I hope), 'cause anyone has guilty pleasures... right? I know I have lots of them, so I thought it would be fun for you to read some of my guilty pleasures.

Are you ready?
1...2...3...
Here we goooooo!!

1. I'm not sure if the first one actually is a guilty pleasure, but I'm gonna tell you anyway. I.. still sleep with a stuffed animal that I was given when I was born. It's a little white bunny and at age 23 I'm still so attached to it that I'm not sure if it's even normal.. Once, I almost had to cry (I was 21) because I forgot to pack him in my bag for the weekend, because I was going to my parents (yes, I already lived on my own). Please anyone tell me that I'm not the only one!!

2. Now, I'm also a little embarrased to say this, but I really love the song "Anaconda" by Nicki Minaj. I can play it over and over again without getting sick of it. It's such a catchy song and I may or may not have done effort to remember the lyrics by heart. *big fat blush!*

3. I have a weak spot for those €1,- burgers at the McDonalds, you know what I mean, those little burgers you get in happy meals. And no, I do NOT order happy meals, luckily you can buy them seperately. I've got no idea why I love these burgers, since it really consists only of two buns, one poorly baked piece of meat and maybe one or two slices of pickles. But everytime I eat it I just feel happy inside, every bite feels so good.

4. Maybe one of my biggest guilty pleasures has to be Nutella, or.. not just Nutella but chocolate spread in general. And it's not the the fact that I always spread a very, VERY thick layer of this on my slice of bread that makes me tingle inside, no what I do way too often, is just scooping a very big spoon of chocolate and I put it directly in my mouth. I.LOVE.IT!

This was it guys!
Do you have any guilty pleasures? I would love to read them! *wink*

Review | HEMA make-up

Yay! My very first make-up review!!
Whoooo!!

Even though I don't wear a lot of make-up, I still use a little to hide those small imperfections (you know what I mean ;))

So, for today I'm gonna show you some make-up I bought at HEMA. For my non-fellow 'Dutchies', the HEMA is a warehouse where you can buy basically eveything (love it!) for a very good price! It also sells a whole range of make-up items and other types of cosmetics and right now I'll show you what I think.

5/5
First we have the CC foundation. This is the first time I have ever tried this foundation and I have to tell you, I absolutely love it.
It covers my blemishes really well, and it also hides the dark circles under my eyes
It feels really soft and it blends in with my skin really well.
I also think that the pump is really handy since I've had a few bad experiences with foundation tubes where my hand got completely covered in foundation :( So yeah, gotta love the pump!
Price: €10,-

4/5
Next we have the mineral compact powder.
I use this product to finish off my skin and make it stop shining.
I really like this powder, even though it's a little 'dusty'. You can see the a little loose powder on my face, so most of the time I have to get rid of that in the end.
Price: €5,50.

3/5
This was my first nailpolish from the HEMA collection, ever, and I absolutely love this color, it's perfect for autumn days! You can't really tell from the picture, but this color is a dark wine red color. So, I tried it that same day (hihi, couldn't wait!). It didn't give full coverage the first time I applied it and it left little streaks, but the second time covered these streaks and gave my nail the right color.
It says on the bottle that it should be long lasting, however, my experience is a little different. After 2 or 3 days, the nailpolish starts to come off :( And when I'm having long nails (I usually don't) it leaves markings on my desk.
Price: €2,50

4/5
Last but not least, the brushes. I never ever used brushes in my life, I always applied my foundation with my fingers, but recently I started getting annoyed by having to was my hands every single time before I could continue with the rest of my make-up. So I figured I should give these brushes a go and I was pleasantly suprised. The foundation brush makes it really easy for me to apply foundation and it doesn't feel so icky (I started feeling that using my fingers was unhygienic).
I also bought a powder brush, but even though the HEMA doesn't sell a smaller one, I really have the feeling that this brush is maybe a bit too big for me. It sometimes feels like I'm being dusted off with a feather duster. But what do I know, since this is the first time that I have ever used brushes for applying make up.
I can't really remember what the price of these brushes were exactly, but I thought that the powder brush was around €3,50 and the foundation brush €3,-

Overall impression
I really like make-up from the HEMA! Ever since I started using make-up (age 13?) this has been the store where I would buy everything. It has such a reasonable price and for a girl like me who doesn't feel the need to use a lot of make-up, it's just perfect.

I hope you liked my FIRST make-up review!
If you have any questions/suggestions/tips or advice, comment me!

Thank you!

Personal | I don't like my house..

Hellooo!
Happy sunday everybody!

Some of you may know that I currently live in an 'anti squat' house (weird word), which basically means that I get to live in houses for a really low rent to prevent these houses from being squatted.
I started living like this as soon as I started university almost four years ago and I really wasn't looking forward to living with a bunch of students who don't clean up after themselves (ugh!). Also, I hate saying this about myself, I tend to be a little of a cheapskate (hihi). The prices you have to pay in the Netherlands to get a decent room to live in are sky high! So, for me, living in these 'anti squatting' houses has been an answer to my problems.

However..

there are unfortunately some downturns. When you're living in these kinds of houses you have to be prepared to move a lot. This is because most of the houses are ready to be demolished because they are old and often do not fit the current housing criteria anymore.

And this, people, is my problem. At the moment I'm living in a house which has suffered the terrible taste and obvious lack of 'house maintaining' skills of of the former residents. There were nails and stickers everywhere, it smelled as if they turned it into a bar and (which is probably the worst), they have painted every square inch of this house in the most digusting colors. It went from black, to brown, to yellow, to pink and blue. Just H.O.R.R.I.B.L.E..

And because of all this, I'm having a hard to time to get it cosy and make it feel like a home. The entire house has just been worn out *cries a little*.

But, luckily we have something called Pinterest and this just really helps me to get ideas of how to turn this shack into my own humble abode.

So here are some gorgeous pictures from Pinterest that really inspire me to do something about my own house.

Enjoy!

I will try this in August changing my living room to white and grey (gray) and beige (cream)

Consistency

Since this is the first time that I've ever written a blog I'm still finding my way around this all.
For a few days now I have been writing every day, but I know I won't be able to keep this up in the future. That's why I decided to stick with a schedule for some consistency. Consistency is good! Yes! I've decided to write twice week; on sundays and wednesdays.

This schedule will give me space to write interesting blogposts, but I'll also be able to keep up with my deadlines because I'm writing my bachelor thesis this year which is super exciting, but also a little terrifying =0

I hope you understand my decision and I can keep on writing some blogposts.

Thank you x

DIY | Autumn collage

Source

When I went out the door for a refreshing stroll in the woods last sunday, I did so with a purpose.
I was feeling crafty and wanted to make a collage of autumn leaves. And so I searched for a few leaves which had these gorgeous red colors, but .. it proved to be harder than I thought :(

.. however, I succeeded! Yesss! I found a few beautiful leaves. And thus I was all set to go and get craftsy. But in my enthusiasm I forgot that the leaves needed to be pressed in order to dry thoroughly. So here I am, 4 days later and I'm finally able to do something :)

Let's get started then!

What you need to start with is:
Scissors
Picture frames
Leaves (duhh..)
Regular white paper
Coffee(pads)
Water
Some old newspaper (or something else you can protect you table with)

Step 1
Take some of the white paper, the coffeepads and water.
Dip the coffeepads in the water and start rubbing this onto the paper. You'll notice that the paper will get a slight brownish color. I love this color to work with as a the background of our collage, it suits with the color of the leaves (I think).
After you have done that, you have to leave the paper to dry, but if you want to speed things up a little, you can also blowdry it ;)

Step 2
So now the first step is completed. For step two you could cut out a passe partout, because I personally like it better that way, but if you dont, then leave it out.

Step 3
Right now we can arrange the leaves on top of the dried paper the way you like it. You can go as wild as you please, but you could also decide to keep things a little minimalistic. Just do whatever suits you best :)

Step 4
When you're happy with the arrangement of the leaves, you can put them into the picture frames. You don't have to glue the leaves onto the paper since the frames will hold everything in place.

And now you're done!

This was such an easy craft to do, I think it didn't take me any longer then 1 hour in total (for three picture frames), but it can really set the mood in your house.

I hope you all liked it!

Have a great day
Bye <3

Personal | Bad habits

Goodmorning!

I was over the moon yesterday to see that so many of my lovely facebook friends decided to take a little peek at my new blog. So this morning I thought that it would be nice for you to get to know me a little better.

So I decided to make a list of a few of my bad habits.. *sigh*
Yes, unfortunately I do have them.
So here we go! :)

1. I love chocolate, and yes I express that by eating way too much of it.

2. Apart from chocolate, I actually have a love for food in general. I might be one of the biggest snackers you'll ever meet.

3. Instead of sleeping at night, I keep my boyfriend awake with telling him about the most random stuff (oopsie!).

4. And yes! Even when he's clearly annoyed by me, I just keep on going.

5. Maybe this one is not necessarily a bad habit, but I tend to arrive at an appointment WAY too early. Which results in me having to wait the longest time in the rain, while I have to go to the toilet and I'm starting to get hypothermia.

6. Snoozing.. Oh yes snoozing... For me it could be one of the worst buttons that has ever been invented.

So here you go! This is the downturn of being me. :p
Thanks for reading!!

Have a great day! <3

Wow! I feel the love~

Not even an hour ago, I posted on facebook that I started a blog. And within that hour, I got almost 70 views. Now, that may not sound that impressive but I really love seeing how in that hour so many of you (my dear friends on facebook) took the effort to actually take a look.

THANK. YOU. SO. MUCH.

It gives me the courage to proceed with this whole new idea of getting a piece of myself out there.
I just want to say that if you have some great ideas or vital pieces of criticism, you're welcome to inform me about it. Give me comments, follow me, or don't do anything at all, it does't matter. I already feel the love :3

Together with you, I hope to make this a succes.. even though there are millions of other blogs.

Thanks guys! Sleep well.

Health | tea, Tea, TEA!

Hi guys!!
Hope you're having a great day today.

Since I didn't have any classes today, I took the opportunity to buy some birthdaygifts for my colleague. I went to 'De Tuinen' (literally 'the Gardens') which is a store that sells all kinds of organic products ranging from cosmetics to all kinds of seeds and teas.

Since I was there, I also decided to treat myself on some nice tea and a facial mask.

Now, can I just tell you how cute I think these tea packages are!
I absolutely love them! They're adorable.
Yes, I may have bought them only because I love the packaging, and YES I may have tried them both already within an hour.

I'm such a tea addict. I can't get enough tea. When I think about it I may drink about 7 to 8 cups of tea each day (not sure if that's even healthy).
Even though I think I'm 'overdrinking', I do know that there are a lot of advantages that come with drinking tea.

First of all, when drinking tea without any sugar, it is an ideal beverage when you're trying to lose weight. When you don't like drinking plain water that much, then tea is your best friend! It keeps you hydrated and gives you the sensation of being full so you won't have the urge to snack.
Secondly, green tea is said to have some serious health benefits. It helps you keeping a young and fresh look and it can give you energy because it contains caffeine. There are even some scientists who say that it may reduce tumor growth.

So, put your coffee down and start sipping some tea!

Bye! x

Health | Get motivated!

Good morning!

Today is just a regular day in my life.. which basically means doing my homework.
My homework mostly consists of translating Japanese texts and then write an analysis about it.
It sounds boring I know, but really, it's not.

However, I have noticed over the past few days that I don't have any motivation to do anything. I think it has to do with the fact that I have only two classes during the week, which causes me to believe that time is limitless or something. As a consequence, I end up with lots of homework that needs to be done in the last few hours before the deadline. Ugh..

So this morning I thought to myself; Girl! Stop being so lazy! Get you sh*t together and just do it!
This sounds easier than it is, so I took some steps to keep me focused:

*
I made a schedule of all the things I had to do today, and tried desperately to stick to it.
*
I made sure my mobile phone was either switched off or put away so that destractions won't get to me.
*
Drink a lot of water! It keeps you fresh and hydrated :)
*
And most importantly, I took some breaks. Just 15 minutes is enough to give you're brain a breather and get ready for a next study session.
*

So next time you get stuck with anything and you need some clarity of how to solve the problem, maybe these steps can help you.

Do your best! Always!

Personal | Autumn is coming!

Hi there! :)

This is my first blogpost, ever! So bear with me while I try to figure out how this all works.

In the meantime, I could tell you something about my wonderful morning. Me and my boyfriend went for a walk in the woods! Yay!
It was so nice! I managed to take this picture and as you can see the sun was shining trough the treebranches and the weather was perfect,
the temperature was just right and it was so quiet.
I really loved it. It made me feel all 'autumny'. (f is that even a word?)
I can't wait for the autumn to arrive and to sip chocolate milk in the evenings with a bunch of candles surrounding me.
